GEH & Innovate Automate Recruitment with RPA
George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH), in collaboration with Innovate, has taken a major step forward in digital transformation by implementing its first Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solution — streamlining the recruitment process by automating the download of applicant details from Trac.
Although the task itself is straightforward, it’s performed frequently and involves multiple steps. Automating this repetitive process frees up HR administrators to focus on more strategic, value-adding work. This marks a significant milestone for GEH, representing its first RPA deployment and reinforcing the Trust’s broader commitment to digital innovation.
Damola Adesina, Robotic Process Automation System Developer said: “Implementing RPA in the HR onboarding process for GEH has been a transformative experience for the RPA team and Innovate.
“It has allowed us to streamline repetitive processes such as employee onboarding data verification and document handling, significantly reducing manual workload and error rates. Collaborating closely with the HR team ensured the bots aligned well with business needs, delivering measurable efficiency gains within weeks of go-live.”
The Innovate RPA team are currently developing a further 35 automation processes designed to improve efficiency and productivity across both GEH and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT). These include six that are in development for cancer services across both SWFT and GEH, as well as opportunities for GP referrals in Radiology, Pharmacy operations, and more.
Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment across the Trusts to harness technology in delivering better outcomes for patients and creating more sustainable, digitally empowered healthcare services.
