Your Data, Our Priority: Innovate Exceeds National Standards

We’re proud to announce that Innovate Healthcare Services has been awarded a “Standards Exceeded” rating by NHS England for the 2024/2025 assessment year of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).

The DSPT is a national self-assessment tool that helps organisations measure their performance against the National Data Guardian’s (NDG) 10 data security standards. These standards ensure that personal and sensitive data is handled securely and responsibly across the health and care sector.

This year, Innovate undertook a comprehensive review of its data protection practices, evidencing compliance across 108 mandatory evidence items. The assessment reflects our commitment to safeguarding data and maintaining robust information governance.

Vicky Dumigan, Head of Information Governance, said: “Achieving the ‘Standards Exceeded’ rating is a testament to the dedication and collaboration across our teams. It reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting the data of our clients, patients, and partners, and ensuring our systems are resilient, secure, and future-ready.”

By completing the DSPT and achieving the highest rating, Innovate demonstrates that we are not only meeting but exceeding national expectations for data security. This means:

  • Your data is handled with the highest level of care and protection.

  • We are aligned with current legislation, policy, and digital/cyber developments.

  • You can trust that our systems and processes are resilient against cyber threats.

Cyber security plays a vital role in meeting the NDG standards. The DSPT and cyber security are deeply interconnected; technical controls and secure systems are essential to protecting personal data. Our Information Governance and Digital teams have worked collaboratively to ensure that our digital infrastructure supports these standards effectively.

“Cyber security isn’t just a technical issue—it’s a trust issue,” said Ben Wilczynski, Data Protection Officer at Innovate.

“Every time someone shares their data with us or the Trusts we support, they’re placing confidence in our ability to protect it. That’s why we promote a culture of proactive vigilance and rigorous staff awareness. Exceeding the DSPT standards reflects our values and our responsibility to safeguard the public’s information.”

We remain committed to continuous improvement and transparency in how we manage data. Whether through enhanced security protocols or staff training, Innovate will continue to lead the way in data protection across the health and care sector.
