Innovate Supports GEH’s Rollout of Voice Recognition Technology to Advance Clinical Efficiency in the General Medicine Specialty
Innovate has partnered with George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (GEH) to successfully implement cutting-edge voice recognition technology within its General Medicine specialty – marking a significant milestone in the Trust’s ongoing digital transformation journey.
With the support of Innovate, GEH has deployed Fluency Direct and Fluency Flex, two advanced solutions from the M*Modal platform. These tools are designed to streamline clinical documentation and reduce administrative burden, ultimately enabling clinicians to spend more time focused on patient care.
Fluency Direct allows clinicians to dictate documentation in real time directly into electronic systems, while Fluency Flex allows clinicians to use clinical templates to document consultations. Together, these tools are enhancing clinical workflows and improving the accuracy and speed of record-keeping across multi-disciplinary teams.
Darren Sargent, Senior Project Manager at Innovate, praised the staff involved with the project: “The successful go-live of M*Modal is a major milestone made possible through the dedication and collaboration between the Trust and Innovate staff. I’d like to thank the project team and Trust staff members for all their hard work over the course of such a transformational project.”
The rollout, championed by Innovate, aligns with GEH’s broader ambition to harness digital innovation to improve care quality, optimise clinician time, and future-proof healthcare delivery in an increasingly complex environment.
“The adoption of voice recognition technology has significantly improved our daily workflow," said Joe Gilbey, Deputy General Manager for Medicine. "It allows us to document clinical consultations more quickly and accurately, giving us more time to focus on what truly matters—our patients."
Aamir Yousafzai, Consultant Emergency Medicine and Senior Responsible Officer, has praised the teams involved saying: “The quality of training and support provided by the M*Modal Innovate team has been exceptional. I’ve received very positive feedback from clinicians, particularly during the go-live. Their efforts are making a real positive impact, and I truly appreciate the standard they’ve set.”
This collaboration underscores Innovate’s commitment to supporting NHS organisations in delivering digital solutions that make a real-world impact and empowering clinical teams with the tools they need to provide exceptional care.
